Position Description 

The Talent Identification Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support to the Department Operations Manager, Directors, Remote TID Managers, and YNT Network Scouts, to efficiently organize and execute all processes and special projects. As part of the role, the coordinator needs to initiate, analyze, and interpret various data sets to help drive strategy.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Commits to the mission, objectives, and policies of U.S. Soccer
  • Applies U.S. Soccer Talent Identification Philosophy and Framework
  • Works closely with all other sporting departments, to maintain inter-departmental communication with Sport Analytics and Youth National Teams
  • Communicates effectively with all stakeholders (staff, scouts, coaches, members, clubs, parents, etc.) involved in talent identification
  • Coordinates all Talent ID procedures to support YNT Scouting and Scout development and all other strategic components
  • Assists Manager to monitor department budget, finances, and spending
  • Oversees Talent ID Associate program

Tasks and Duties of the position are based on five strategic components:

Technology (Data and Analysis)

  • Assist with management of player and scouting databases and reporting platforms in partnership with the sport performance departments
  • Discover and create new avenues (e.g., processes, software, data visualizations, and technology) to support and positively impact player identification and monitoring
  • Compile, create, and distribute scouting data, statistics and reports for both internal and external purposes
  • Assists with analysis of elite player pathways, to help signal trends and drive strategy (i.e., club, market, paths, chronological age, etc.)

YNT Scouting Network

  • Provide administrative support
  • Coordinate scouting calendar, compile and distribute activity report summaries
  • Coordinate all logistics for scouting games, events and Talent ID Centers (travel, rosters, game schedules, player recommendation forms, point of contacts, etc.)
  • Assist with the onboarding process for all YNT Network Scouts and monitor scouts for full compliance with procedures and code of behavior
  • Distribute equipment and apparel packages
  • Oversee YNT Scouting Network payroll and reimbursements in concert with Finance department

Scout Education and Development

  • Manage YNT Scouting Network resource library (video, source documents, and webinar recordings)
  • Provide Coaching Education department with additional administrative support for the Talent Scout License courses
  • Create individual scout dashboards for (self) monitoring and development and for use as part of formal scout/TID Manager reviews (2 x annual)
  • Technology training and support (schedule and facilitate training webinars)

Talent ID Centers and Regional Mini-Camps

  • Support TID Managers with planning and execution
  • Coordinate personnel and administrative items (roster, invitations, athletic trainers, referees, facilities)
  • Manage annual calendar and timelines
  • Update player database after every ID Center

Youth National Team Scouting

  • Fielding all external scouting inquiries (scouting@ussoccer.org) and responding/filtering appropriately?
  • Support TID Manager to provide player watchlists and game schedules
  • Provide administrative support to YNT coaches for all Talent Identification related needs
  • Manage international player tracking
  • Support YNT player monitoring and update player database after every camp
  • Attend specified (larger) events/showcases to provide in-person, ground-level support to the scouting team
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Strong knowledge of soccer and the overall soccer landscape in the U.S.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication combined with a professional demeanor
  • Customer service focus to solve complex and urgent situations
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work and execute under pressure and deadlines
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize workflow
  • Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook), Adobe, Keynote, PowerPlan, etc.
  • Able and willing to travel up to 15% of the year
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends as needed

Desired Qualifications 

  • Passion for soccer
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Experience in developing/supporting technology platforms or database management
  • Knowledge with soccer scouting and data platforms (Scout7, Wyscout, Opta, etc.)
  • Proficiency with numerical analysis and/or data visualization platform (R, Tableau, SQL, etc.)
  • Thorough institutional knowledge of U.S. Soccer’s mission, goals, technical plan, policies, practices, and procedures
  • Previous experience with a club or national team
