All thanks to you for creating the MiS Group! Back in July, Shantonie Derrick shared the Mentoring Challenge application in the group. I am excited to share that I was selected to participate as a mentee. #ThisGroupWorks!!!

MiS is the reason I landed this job with the NBA. I appreciate all of the relationships I have been able to build through the MiS network. We are truly like family. We always support each other and always want to see each other win. I can’t wait to see what MiS does in the next five years.

MiS has been the ultimate community for networking. I’ve been able to meet and reconnect with like-minded individuals in the industry. Sharing information and opportunities has been a huge asset. We not only cheer each other on, but we support and help to promote what the next person is doing.

MiS has been a huge asset to my career. The network that I’ve accumulated and interacted with on a daily basis has spawned friendships, colleagues and partnership opportunities that I wouldn’t have had access to without.

To be involved in such a great network of talented, ambitious individuals has definitely impacted my career. I’m constantly inspired and motivated by the hustle and accomplishments of the group. It’s such an asset to have a network of sports industry stars across the country that I can learn from, support and grow with. I appreciate the events and panel discussions curated by MiS that help members understand how to successfully navigate this industry. I’ve gained great insights on everything from resume and negotiation tips to content creation and the power of social media. I’m grateful for the work MiS does for the culture.

MiS is wonderful! It has given me a supportive community that I can count on. Everyone is helpful, nice, and genuine. Whether I need career advice or simply want to talk about the latest NBA news, I have a community where I can be myself completely.

MiS has been a catalyst in creating the type of connections between minorities working in sports who may, at times, feel alienated. With over 1,000 members in the group, I’ve witnessed the willingness of others to make introductions, read resumes, engage with content, hire, attend events, literally anything to help people they do not even know. I’ve had the opportunity to further cultivate those relationships at conferences, games and other league events. It’s almost weird, you feel protected by strangers.

MiS has allowed me to build relationships and help others make connections that have advanced their careers. Being a part of a network with that much influence will always have a positive impact on me as a person and on my career.

MiS has positively impacted my career by being a valued resource for inspiring conversation and networking. I remember when I was getting ready to start a new job and I mentioned it in the group. The person who had the position I was filling most recently reached out and we were able to connect. The insights and knowledge shared was invaluable. We’ve been able to build a relationship through the group, it’s a powerful tool.

MiS has helped me significantly. In addition to positively impacting my career by providing me confidence, mentoring, encouragement and support, it’s allowed me an opportunity to become part of a talented, passionate and special network of colleagues who are making an impact in the world. MiS has also provided me another platform to share my writing and allows me to network with other industry leaders who are game-changers. It’s been great to contribute my knowledge and experience to the group, but the awesome members have given me more than I could ever provide. It’s a special group and I am thankful to be a member.
