NASCAR Jr Network Engineer will be required to provide enterprise-level assistance to our customers. This position will diagnose and troubleshoot network and hardware problems and help maintain a highly available, flexible and resilient network. Jr Network Engineer responsibilities include resolving network issues, supporting existing network solutions, and ensuring our network is available and flexible to adapt to the demands from our customers.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work as part of a team and assist Principal, Senior, and Network Engineers as directed
  • Follows core processes and procedures to ensure operational success
  • Monitor, track, benchmark, and analyze Voice/Data Network trends
  • Analyze performance of responsible technologies and documented solutions, identify problem areas, and resolve root cause
  • Triage Service Incidents, Requests, and Problems reported by customers
  • Based on Incidents, Assess need for any system reconfigurations on the Configuration Items and make recommendations or resolve within process
  • Learn about emerging infrastructure solutions and other collaborative products, services, protocols, and standards
  • Ensure the availability, stability, and integrity of Data, Voice, Video, and Wireless network services
  • Support corporate network services including security, wireless, routing and switching
  • Support the organization’s disaster recovery and business continuity programs
  • Provide prompt and accurate feedback to customers and management
  • Prioritize and manage multiple open issues simultaneously
  • Document technical knowledge in the form of notes, how to guides, and manuals

Qualifications / Requirements

Experience and Certifications

  • Associates Degree or equivalent Experience Required
  • 1+ Years in a Network Engineering Role
  • CCNA Required
  • CCNP Strongly Encouraged

Technical Skillsets –

  • Competent with Network Operations
  • Capable of performing onsite Event Support and Engineering
  • Experience in either Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto or Extreme infrastructure and supporting applications
  • Some experience in networking products including routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, IPS/IDS, and Load Balancing solutions
  • Awareness of Wide Area Networking – MPLS, BGP, VPN
  • Prior use of network management tools
  • Some Knowledge of Data Center infrastructure operations included but not limited to Networking, Server, Virtualization, Storage, and Environmental controls
  • Helpful, but not required, if knowledgeable on Cisco Call Manager technologies or other voice related systems

  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a team
  • Capable of preparing reports and papers on technical issues

  • Ability to contribute to a cross functional team from Engineering, Applications, Technology, and others in the management of day-to-day operations to resolve incidents and provide enhancements
  • Ability to participating in a program of continuous improvement within the IT department
  • Seek opportunities to grow and become a better and established engineer

  • Ability to plan and organize work consistent with the strategic goals of NASCAR
  • Identify priority activities and assignments and to ensure the effective monitoring and implementation of release plans
  • Ability to continue to make progress, consistently report status, and overcome roadblocks while switching between multiple simultaneous efforts

  • Skilled in communicating with people from different backgrounds and technical abilities
  • Ability to communicate to the team and to leadership
  • Strive to communicate complex technical items to non-technical individuals in a succinct and clear fashion
